Job Description

The Software Products Scrum Master working closely with product owners, program managers and the technical team. Will be a servant leader and a coach for Agile teams. Their goal will be to educate the teams on Agile principles and best practices, help them maximize their productivity and self-organize to achieve committed Product objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and encourage an Agile mindset while coaching the team on Agile principles and best practices
  • Plan and facilitate team ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint demo, and retrospectives
  • Coach and support the Product Owner to effectively manage the backlog and maximize business value
  • Deliver capabilities using agile practices while also following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes as appropriate to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met
  • Shield the technical team from outside distractions and interferences
  • Help manage risks, raise impediments, and facilitate their resolution
  • Identifies key cross-functional issues and project synergies; provides guidance with complex project issues.
  • Lead team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Program Managers to ensure execution alignment within the program
  • Partner with discipline managers about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
  • Support Aireon in building better Agile practices as we grow the team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role required
  • Adept at story writing, estimation, refinement, and other Scrum techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to partner and interact with technical and business stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, analytical, problem-solving skills, mentoring and facilitation skills
  • Highly organized and motivated
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and be a change agent for the team
  • Scrum Master certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using Azure Devops and/or Jira
  • Scaled Agile experience
  • Experience working as an Agile Coach

1-3-6-12 Month Plan

In the first month we’ll expect you to…

  • Get onboarded and train with your manager
  • Get acclimated into the role
  • Understand the tools and different stakeholders
  • Understand the status of ongoing product development and sprints
  • Observe ongoing sprint ceremonies

At 3 months we’ll expect you to…

  • Manage multiple sprints/agile ceremonies
  • Define a way to properly measure and report team velocity
  • Participate on Risk assessments

At 6 months we’ll expect you to…

  • Continue handling scrum ceremonies
  • Implement measuring velocity process and start reporting on it
  • Start identifying velocity improvements
  • Manage Requirement grooming/refinement sessions
  • Participate on risk management workshops

At 12 months we’ll expect you to…

  • Implement agile and reporting process improvements.
  • Recommend overall (enterprise) agile process improvements
  • Participate on new project initiatives, estimating efforts, budgets and resources
  • Participate on various technical board meetings
  • Continue handling scrum ceremonies

About the Team

  • 2 scrum teams of 10 distributed across North America and 3 different timezones.
  • Using Agile methodology and tools (daily scrums, 2-week sprints)
  • Mostly using Azure DevOps and Microsoft Office tools for collaboration and communication
