Job Summary:

The Director of Central Accounting is responsible for the accounting processes of the managed properties, including general ledger accounting and financial statement analysis and preparation. The position is responsible for ensuring proper functioning of the department through direct oversight and development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate policies and procedures. A strong need for excellence, continuous improvement, and leadership skills are essential for this key role in the success of the central accounting team.

Key Priorities

Accounting Excellence

? Support the implementation of financial systems process changes and enhancements; ensure all changes are effectively implemented
? Ensure that business activities within area of responsibility comply with relevant external regulatory and/or voluntary codes and with internal policies and procedures to minimize business risk and to protect the reputation of the organization
? Partner with cross functional leadership across a matrixed organization to develop short- and long-term strategies and facilitate initiatives
? Makes sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. For example, asks questions to encourage others to think differently and enrich their analyses of complex situations. Accurately defines the key elements of complex, ambiguous situations

Owner Relations

? Develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
? Demonstrates dependability and builds an organization with a reputation for living up to its commitments
? Solicits customer feedback and data; conveys a clear understanding of the level of service the team is providing; takes quick and urgent action when standards are not met by team; aligns business process with customer needs

Work experience:

? A bachelors degree in accounting or finance required
? Minimum of 7 years experience in the hospitality, real estate, or multi-unit industry required. 5 years of management experience required, also in the related industry
? Certified Public Accountant preferred, with a strong understanding of GAAP
? Requires extensive knowledge of all areas of hotel or multi-unit operational finance
? Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Suite products (Excel), knowledge of JDEdwards and BlackLine
? Effective communication and presentation skills
? Ability to present to and interface with management team as well as third party stakeholders (owners, auditors, lenders, etc.)
? Must be able to manage and effectively execute on multiple projects, simultaneously
? Strong critical thinking/analytical ability
