PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Inspects and packages finished flooring by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Retrieves empty carton from carton rack.
  • Examines flooring on moving belt for defects such as knots, stains, decay, splits, faulty edges, pitch pockets, wormholes, and defective milling.
  • Positions lumber to indicate grade and further processing instructions.
  • Determines cuts to be made to obtain highest marketable value from material.
  • Removes unsatisfactory pieces from conveyor or table and places pieces on stacks, in bins, or on carts.
  • Places boards in cartons according to manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring desired footage for each carton.
  • Places inspections identification marking on full cartons and pushes carton onto conveyor belt for strapping.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be able to maintain score of 90% or better on grade test rules.
  • Follow Job Safety Analysis guidelines to assure safe operations.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Good hand-eye coordination desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening.
  • Positive and Verifiable Work History.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly standing, reaching, grasping and repetitive movements.
  • Occasionally required to walk, talk, stoop, kneel, or crouch and frequently required to hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Climb stairs to/from workstations.
  • Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and an environment that is usually loud.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
