POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to aid in numerous dietary functions as directed, assigned or instructed, such as upkeep of dish machine, floors, washing dishes, as well as clean up duties, all in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform essential functions satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:

• Wash any dishes left from previous shifts
• Fill dish machine and complete at least two cycles with machine free of dishes
• Record the temperature of dish machine and machine water temperatures
• Use appropriate chemical test strips to determine proper sanitizing level and record results
• Empty dishwasher and properly store clean dishes/utensils
• Check garbage disposal for foreign objects
• Prepare soap and water for flatware
• Scrape, pre-rinse and wash all dishes/utensils
• Use proper procedures when working dirty to clean areas in dish room
• Sweep, mop, and maintain dietary floors and work areas
• Take dirty mop heads to laundry
• Maintain dietary bathrooms, storage areas and janitorial closets
• Dispose of garbage and trash, keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous items
• Assist on the serving line as needed
• Assist Dietary Tray Aide with necessary duties
• Meet or exceed the dress code of the facility as specified in the Employee Handbook
• Follow the established universal precautions, safety and infection control, and isolation procedures
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients’ personal and health care

• Maintain privacy and confidentiality or records, conditions, and other information relating to

• Report faulty kitchen and dietary appliance, equipment, etc.

• Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training and educational classes
• Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:

• Minimum educational background of completing the tenth grade

Other Requirements:

• Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting to twenty-five (25) pounds is required
