Job Summary

Bring your exceptional talents to the premier award winning team at Horn Barbecue a Michelin Guide restaurant located in West Oakland.

We are looking for a very specialized individual : part Cook, part Server, all Passion...to be a Lead on our block line, greeting guests and cutting barbecue meats for our valued guests.

The ultimate goal of all our team members is to serve quality food of the highest standard, creating a unique experience for each customer.

We prefer the ideal candidate to have previous experience in cutting and butchery in a guest-facing position for high volume fast casual restaurant or market.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Set up the kitchen with necessary tools and equipment
  • Cut meats to order and present to specifications in an appealing manner
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to other team members when appropriate
  • Maintain appropriate levels of line inventory and restock when necessary
  • Follow all food safety regulations
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Participate in daily kitchen opening, mid, and closing procedures
  • Implement new menu items as created and instructed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Culinary Director or Restaurant Manager

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Big energy, personable, with winning smile
  • ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes a plus
  • Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Works well in a respectful, disciplined, high energy, positive team environment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds
