AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation is Hiring a Flight Mechanics Engineer Near Philadelphia, PA

Summary of Position

Responsible for ensuring AW609 Tiltrotor Handling Qualities and flight characteristic meet company and regulatory requirements. Responsible for supporting the development and certification of the AW609 Tiltrotor by conducting analysis utilizing analytical models, tools, and methods such as flight simulation and flight test. Manage the software tools and processes to define flight loads utilizing flight simulation and software scripting. Utilize knowledge of physics, aeromechanics, and handling qualities to ensure fly-by-wire flight control system flight characteristics that are safe, meet customer requirements and regulatory requirements.

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct flight simulation test and analysis in support of Flight Mechanics tasks, including desktop analysis and simulations, piloted simulations and laboratory activities.

Conduct flight test data analysis and reporting.

Support various engineering teams buy running simulation software.

Provide analytical support to other engineering disciplines in support of certification activities.

Participate in on-going development of aircraft systems, including flight control laws, flight Test and problem report/squawk process, to ensure optimal design for business, customer, and certification objectives.

Own AW609 Engineering Flight Simulator. Responsible for maintenance, scheduling, directing tests, capability enhancements.

Support flight test program by participating in test plan development, real time test monitoring in telemetry room.

Qualifications for Position: (US Citizenship or Green Card required – Analytical tools used are ITAR controlled)

A. Education

Minimum - BS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

B. Experience

  1. 0-5 years’ experience in an engineering position.
  2. Experience with scripting languages such as Visual Basic, Pearl, Python, Matlab, Octave
  3. Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand complex systems and aircraft flight characteristics
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, identify solutions in the presence of conflict and ambiguity

C. Competencies & Attributes

1.

Understanding of control systems and control law design, flying/handling qualities testing, and simulation modeling and analysis.

2.

Practical experience with FAA certification processes. 

3.

Strong analytical skills. Ability to develop analysis methods a draw conclusions from results.

4.

Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
