The Opportunity

We currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist to add to our team in Naperville, Il. The Purchasing Specialist will support and execute current purchasing and logistics activities within the Food Platform. The role will be responsible for understanding purchasing requisitions, placing Purchase Orders, ensure on time delivery from suppliers, effectively communicate with suppliers, project managers, business leaders, etc. on purchasing delivery status, etc. The candidate will also work very closely with Corporate Supply Chain management to ensure alignment to strategic priorities, One AGI initiatives, and annual business goals. Role offers opportunity for professional advancement within Supply Chain (i.e., category management, logistics, inventory and warehouse management, purchasing, materials management, etc).

The Team

This position will function within the Corporate Supply Chain, Naperville team and will report to the Senior Category Management Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase orders for multiple divisions end-to-end responsibility.
  • Update delivery dates for all open orders proactively and publish the reports on a weekly basis.
  • Review accuracy of purchase orders with current supplier terms and conditions and proposals.
  • Provide Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports on actual material requisition costs versus quotation & estimate values.
  • Review and analyze existing divisional purchasing and logistics practices to identify process improvements & volume leveraging alternatives to improve quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction & to reduce costs & drive company revenue.
  • Recommend or negotiate alternative purchasing and logistics programs and agreements with and in conjunction with identified divisions to improve efficiency and cost savings through volume leverage and supplier optimization.
  • Execute supplier negotiations and material requisitions activities to directly support quotation and project activity.
  • Act as a key purchasing resource and solutions provider to the Division regional and local Manufacturing Leadership and their respective teams.
  • Work with all of Project Managers/Engineers to explore any alternative suppliers / commodity-based materials.
  • Support supplier selection process across multiple subsets of the category, with various scope and divisional stakeholder groups.
  • Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedule to ensure on-time deliveries of final product.
  • Review and manage supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.
  • Perform regular performance review with suppliers to drive continuous improvements.
  • Create monthly performance reviews and reports focusing on overall purchasing requirements.
  • Adopt appropriate supplier management methodologies and procurement strategies in purchasing to secure better prices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related fields preferred.
  • 3 years relevant experience in purchasing and purchase order management.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong leadership potential.
  • Ability to thrive & grow in a continuously evolving environment.
  • Open to North American travel.
  • Basic skills with: Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, M2M & Oracle (preferred).
