The Opportunity

Reporting to the Sr. Director, US Farm, the Plant Manager will work onsite full-time and is responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of plant operations and support functions onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a Safety- First culture that strives for zero incidents and zero accidents.
  • Develop operational strategies and lead teams to continuously increase throughput, reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce lead times,
  • Actively lead and improve the cross functional SIOP process to proactively balance demand and capacity timing. Work cross functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Sales Execution, and Supply Chain
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly financial objectives; Explain variances and implement robust corrective actions when there are misses to S, Q, D, C goals.
  • Embed a culture of daily kaizen and at the floor level with all associates.
  • Leverage in-plant green belts to conduct and lead margin enhancing initiatives.
  • Implement conversion plans to new ERP and actively support and lead local SME’s before and after cutover.
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed including environmental and social governance.
  • Communicate corporate policy and news in a positive way. Model the One AGI culture.
  • Communicate and provide leadership to ensure achievement of plant objectives, accountable for daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times. Delivering good quality product, safely, on time and to cost, including availability of raw materials, production, inventory and shipping.
  • Build a high performing team of local leaders / supervisors / leads.
  • Create an atmosphere and provide leadership that allows each employee to utilize their full potential to accomplish plant and divisional objectives.
  • Constantly strive to reduce costs via OPEX / Lean / cost reduction / process improvement activities, be a lean champion and a lean ‘cheerleader’. Demonstrate Lean Leadership – educate, ask questions, drive implementation and conduct weekly Gemba walks. Responsible for implementation of the AGI Business Operating System.
  • With the support of HR: Select, motivate mentor and develop personnel, take ownership of retention. Train and educate staff as necessary.
  • Own the quality system: warranty tracking, response to internal and external quality issues. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that equipment and buildings are maintained to a good standard and are in compliance with local rules and regulations. Build business cases for CAPEX to replace equipment as needed.
  • Fully align to the Corporate and Business Strategic Plans and Objectives, and build the annual manufacturing budget, track performance and update forecasts as needed. Represent the plant in Monthly Ops Reviews.
  • Run a SIOP (S&OP) process to align with Sales.
  • Lead New Product Introduction and Product Transfers from the manufacturing side, ensure Design for Manufacturing, flag issues as arise.
  • Represent the company in the local community, ensure the company is considered a good neighbor, network with similar companies in the community.
  • Engage with local workforce and economic development organizations to take advantage of grants, tax abatements, training opportunities etc.

Qualifications

Education: Engineering Degree preferred; Six Sigma certification and/or MBA is a plus.

Experience: 8 years related senior manufacturing management experience required with demonstrated success directly leading and developing a plant of min. 100 associates. Familiar with operating in a matrix environment and collaborating with remote teams; Proven success managing a plant with cyclical and seasonal demand patterns and mixed value streams (MTS, CTO, ETO); Active hands-on leadership style that brings everyone along, high business acumen, bias for urgency and action, and team developer.

Software Application and Technical Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel and Word), Outlook Email/Calendar, ERP System Exposure (Oracle a plus)
