AFSCME Michigan 925 is Hiring a Data Entry Clerk Near Lansing, MI

DATA ENTRY CLERK

Job Summary: The Data Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately and efficiently maintaining membership records, including entering, updating, researching, verifying, and retrieving data. Attention to detail, accuracy, consistency, and ability to maintain confidentiality of information is crucial for success in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect reports, documents, personal data, and other relevant information.
  • Compile, sort, and verify data with source documents before it is entered.
  • Update existing data.
  • Request data from the database, or electronic files.
  • Manage and organize records and files.
  • Scan documents into database.
  • Accurately enter data into corresponding fields within various software programs.
  • Identify and correct data entry errors using appropriate quality control methods.
  • Assist Accounting Department with collection and organizing membership lists as received.
  • Reconcile customer accounts.
  • Cross-check month-end rebate reports with corresponding information from the employer. Correct any discrepancies.
  • Enter new member information in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year paid data entry work experience or related office experience.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of word processing software for creating and contributing to spreadsheets, draft, and share documents. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of modern technology, especially computers, copier, scanners.
  • Working knowledge of multi-line phone systems.
  • Strong organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to enter data into a computer quickly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, courteous, and tactful.
  • Excellent problem-resolution skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.

  • Must be able to work at desk/computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
  • Position requires continual mental concentration and specific attention to detail.
  • May be required to reach, bend, stoop, and handle objects with hands and/or fingers, talk and/or hear, and see.
  • Position requires light to moderate work with 20 (twenty) pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.72 - $27.04 per hour
