About Your Internship Role:

Affinity’s Entity Resolution team is seeking an energetic, ambitious technical resource to join our 2024 Summer Internship Program. As a Data Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our data engineering team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure. You will be involved in various stages of data pipeline development and analytics solutions. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in a professional environment, allowing you to apply your knowledge and skills to real-world data engineering challenges.

Duration of Internship Role:

Summer 2024 (from the end of June to late August)

Your Contributions:

• Collaborate with the data science team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data pipelines and systems.
• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing large volumes of data.
• Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing and transformation processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
• Participate in data modeling activities, including schema design, normalization, and optimization, to support efficient data retrieval and analysis.
• Monitor and optimize data pipelines and analytical workflows to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Research recent industry trends and best practices in data engineering, and actively contribute to the team's knowledge base by sharing your insights and ideas.

Your Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database concepts
• Strong proficiency with SQL (window functions, CTE, etc.) and experience in working with relational databases
• Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering, such as Python
• Knowledge of ETL concepts and experience with data integration tools and technologies
• Familiarity with data pipeline automation process and experience with tools such as Airflow
• Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or similar
• Basic understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloud-based data services.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Prior experience or coursework related to data engineering or data management is a plus
