Direct Support Staff will assist Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with person-centered monitoring, training, education, demonstration, or/and support to assist the individual with acquisition and retention skills in the following areas: leisure activities and community/public events, educational activities, hobbies, volunteering, maintaining contact with family and friends. Direct Support staff will assist individuals in training and education in self-direction: develop self-advocacy skills, exercise civil rights, acquire skills and enable self control and responsibility for services and supports received or needed, acquiring skills the individual to become more independent, integrated, or productive in the community and or their home.
Direct Support Staff Requirements:
1. eighteen (18) years of age or older.
2. Demonstrate the ability to communicate adequately in order to:
a. Complete required forms and reports of visits; and
b. follow oral and written instruction.
3. Demonstrate the ability to provide services according to an individual's ISP.
4. Demonstrate willingness to accept supervision.
5. Demonstrate an interest in and empathy for individuals.
6. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.'
