The Aerospace Space-Based InfraRed Systems and Next Generation GEO Department is looking for a talented, dedicated, and passionate engineering leader to partner with the Space Force System Command to ensure mission success for the development, acquisition and deployment of the Next generation Overhead Persistent Infrared space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space. You will help protect the Nation by supporting the development of these exciting, important, high technology next generation missile warning systems. What You'll Be Doing You will partner with the Government to ensure Mission Success of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) to develop, acquire and deploy space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space. Your primary responsibilities will be to support space vehicle (SV) to launch vehicle (LV) systems integration (LSI) efforts for missile warning and missile tracking SV programs as a member of the Space Based Sensing Division OPIR MW/MT Program Office. * Serve as LSI interface between SV and LV Program Offices and their Contractors. Assess SV requirements against LV capability and support LV compatibility of SV design and development.
* Support SV to LV integration activity from requirements definition, documentation, and analysis through verification, operations, and launch.
* Identify, flow down, integrate, and verify LV to SV requirements including Ground Support Equipment (GSE), operations and launch support
* Support SV program office contributions to LV program office plans for launch service acquisition, and support SV integration studies with LV contractors.
* Collaborate with launch vehicle and launch site teams to ensure SV and test equipment hardware, software, ground support, and system analyses meet all mission requirements.
* Maintain effective working relationships with various SV and LV contractors, Aerospace ETG, and Air Force/Space Force personnel This position is available as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer. Telecommuting is possible depending on customer needs What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or related subject area
* Eight or more years of related system engineering, scientific, or space system program experience * Experience with risk identification, assessment, and management.
* Track record of resolving complex issues in team environment while communicating across multiple organizations
* Ability to acquire a DoD Secret clearance, which is issued by the US Government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
* Moderate travel required What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
* Twelve or more years of related engineering, scientific, or space system program experience * Project engineer requirement from above
* Contractor and Government integration and launch experience on heritage Atlas V, Delta IV, or Falcon launch vehicles as well as LV system capability from Contractor perspective
* Current knowledge of SBIRS SV interfaces and requirements.
