The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. Our staff in the Parts, Materials & Processes (PM&P) Department includes subject matter experts across a broad range of areas pertaining to electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts procurement, qualification, application, anomaly resolution, as well as materials and processes. Our expertise combined with a sophisticated in-house electronic component laboratory deliver innovative analysis and PM&P program management capabilities to national space systems and civil customers. What You'll Be Doing * Act as senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or team leader in the area of EEE part failure analysis.
* Coordinate large-scale failure analyses or reliability studies of EEE parts across program/project lines.
* Lead or organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff.
* Initiate studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions.
* Perform analytical studies for part reliability risk as well as future technology planning and development. Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommends courses of action.
* Perform independent verification and validation of contractor's methods for root cause analysis and corrective action What You Need to Be Successful Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or another appropriate discipline.
* At least twelve years of increasingly responsible and industry related engineering/scientific experience
* Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct, execute tasks, and manage projects to solve technical problems * Experience with using typical Failure Analysis instruments (e.g. scanning electron microscope) , non-destructive and destructive evaluation techniques * Expert knowledge of common failure modes of high reliability electronic parts * Ability to work in a laboratory setting
* Ability to coach/mentor less-experienced engineers and technicians
* Willingness to occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 10% (as required) * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required. How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: * Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent is highly preferred * Twelve years of increasingly responsible and industry related engineering/scientific experience
* An active TS/SSBI security clearance. * Ability to lead cross-organizational teams and organize interfaces with internal/external customers
* Project management skills in applications such as MS Project, Jira, etc * Experience collaborating with contractors, industry working groups, and/or associations such as NASA Electronics Parts Assurance Group, Defense Logistics Agency, Joint Electron Device Engineering Council, Automotive Electronics Council, during the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of active electronic parts for space-related applications We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.
