Job Overview

We have an immediate need for a Program Quality Engineer at our AMF site located in Toney, AL.

In this role, you will assume the role of liaison between the manufacturing facility, the program office, and the customer. In addition, you will plan methods to verify conformance with customer specifications and engineering requirements.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions

As the Program Quality Engineer, duties will include:

30% - Utilizes engineering background and expertise to communicate and coordinate actions between team members, program office and customer counterparts (internal & external). In doing so, provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specifications and that key quality performance metrics are being met. Handles and communicates deviations/nonconformance at different levels within the organization. Understands and communicates typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, NDT, etc.) and how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured.

20% - Applies modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to routine aerospace and manufacturing operation, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.

20% - Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.

20% - Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for customer review throughout the evaluation process. Reviews all supplier data and ensures that it is complete and accurate before the data is reviewed by the customer.

10% - Interfaces with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical justification when a nonconformance to mutually agreed specifications is determined.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: -Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or other related discipline and two (2) years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of an advanced degree and experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational groups, all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Must demonstrate emotional intelligence while working in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to a variety of situations (technical, organizational, etc.).
  • Must possess the skills to coach/mentor individuals to work effectively under time and budget constraints.
  • Must possess the ability to motivate and inspire change.
  • Experience in project management is desired.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-platform electronic environment is required.
  • Exposure to product development in a multi-functional team environment is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive actions and results while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and integrity is desired.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
