Team Lead, Financial Operations

Adyen is looking for an Team Lead, Financial Operations to grow the Group Finance team in Amsterdam, focused primarily on guiding and empowering a team of 7 people to lead automation on operational processes within the accounts payable and accounts receivable scope. Additionally, taking an unobvious approach to optimize processes is key to this role. Furthermore, someone who has affinity with accounting processes given that the team is responsible for the operational expense and the revenue and receivable ledgers in Adyen’s trial balance. 

The role provides the opportunity to collaborate with multiple stakeholders - both internally and externally - supporting the continued growth of the company in a scalable, controlled and compliant way. It is therefore of crucial importance to be able to “zoom out” and have a holistic view and not be afraid to make decisions. 

Being part of the centralized Finance team means you’ll be working in the (financial) engine room of a registered and listed financial institution. 

What you’ll do

  • Guide a team to optimize processes such as supplier invoice processing, payments towards supplier, debt collection and payment reconciliations;
  • Motivate the team to go the extra mile and think “outside the box”;
  • You'll be responsible for further driving automation to streamline core functions and improve accuracy, working closely with global leads and operational teams as well as the rest of the finance organization;
  • Optimize the current processes and work towards scalable processes;
  • Collaborating within Group Finance (Financial Controlling, Payroll and Tax teams) as well as with stakeholders outside of Finance, managing the general ledger related to OPEX, completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules;
  • Preparation of variance analysis during month-end close process;
  • Providing support during internal and external audits with respect to operational expenses;
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement to drive initiatives that help scale the organization.

Who you are

  • You have 2-6 years of experience in financial control/accounting; and/or leadership in Operational team is a plus;
  • You are detail-oriented, with an analytical mindset; 
  • You have a continuous improvement/ automation mindset;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with ability to prioritize;
  • Proactive in projects you take on, able to work independently but never afraid to ask for help;
  • Able to think 2 steps ahead. We are looking for someone that can question the status quo, think critically and creatively to implement solutions to scale during Adyen’s rapid growth.
  • You have strong communication skills and know how to handle escalations;
  • Having an accounting (operations)/financials control background is a plus.
