Major Responsibilities:

  • Customer Satisfaction: Participates in customer satisfaction within the department and hospital.
    • 1)Serves as patient advocate to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner and individualizes each patient’s plan of care.
    • 2) Resolves patients and customers concerns immediately.
    • 3) Utilizes appropriate resources to resolve ongoing patient customer’s irritants.
    • 4)Maintains positive relationships with all customers e.g., patients, significant others, physician, and Associates.
    • 5)Review Patient Satisfaction data and implements changes within the department.
  • Quality: Provision of quality care to patients. Contributes to the design and implementation of improved processes to achieve quality and superior patient care and service.
    • 1)Effective utilization treatment planning of the process (i.e., assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in the delivery of quality care.
    • 2)Supports and provides education to patients, families and other health care team members.
    • 3) Performs and documents assessment on assigned patients.
    • 4) Assesses and suggests changes in patients’ treatment plan.
    • 5) Implements and maintains plan of care reflective or identified problems/needs.
    • 6)Identifies and utilizes appropriate interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes.
    • 7) Evaluates patient outcomes and makes revisions as appropriate.
    • 8) Actively participates in the collection of data for CQI initiatives.
    • 9) Utilizes basic safety measures.
    • 10)Adheres to policies, procedures and established physical therapy standards. Responds to emergency plans as directed by the department/unit responsibilities. Maintains unit cleanliness as directed.
  • People Growth: Establishment and achievement of self-development objectives and continued advancement of the department.
    • 1)Assesses own learning needs, seeks appropriate training and development. Sets own objectives and goals.
    • 2)Maintains and supports Accrediting Organization requirements in regards to competencies. (i.e., CPR certification, safety and infection control, current licensure hospital/ unit based certification standards).
    • 3)Demonstrates appropriate Physical Therapy and technical skills for clinical competency.
    • 4) Participates in the team Performance Pathway evaluation process.
    • 5) Orient and train new Associates.
    • 6) Participates in hospital committees, DIG’s etc.
    • 7) Achieves appropriate number of education hours as established yearly.
    • 8) Participates in mentoring/instruction students during clinical experiences

    • 3) Participates in practice innovation opportunities and strategies.
    • 4) Utilizes creative measures to optimize customer satisfaction.
  • Productivity: Participates in implementing improvements to practice productivity.
    • 1)Cross-train to other unit functions as necessary to achieve optimal department flexibility, example: amputee clinic, outpatient services etc.
    • 2) Participates in collecting and analyzing department productivity data.
    • 3) Suggests productivity improvement ideas.
    • 4)Delegates patient care activities as appropriate for skill levels with documented competency plan.
    • 5) Flexible in meeting the staffing requirements of the department.
  • Economics: Contributes to cost containment and business growth initiatives of the department.
    • 1)Assists with staffing requirements by accurately communicating needs and patient acuity.
    • 2) Responsible for efficient utilization of all resources within scope of practice.
    • 3) Communicates inventory needs/adjustments to leader.
    • 4) Participates in cost containment practice strategies.

Licensure:

  • Physical Therapist

Education/Experience Required:

  • • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy • 1-2 years experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • • Strong computer skills • Strong interpersonal communication skills required • Demonstrate, strong leadership, assessment, team building skills
  • • P.T. License • Current CPR Certification

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with variances age group is preferred. Ability to work weekends, take call if needed. • Must be flexible in staffing needs due to census and acuity of patients. • Work hours vary according to unit needs. • Heavy Lifting: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
