Responsibilities

Position Description:

Responsible for providing teaching and consulting services to residents and medical students while ensuring appropriate quality of care to the patients at Hospital.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct teaching and consulting services to all residents and medical students within Hospital and the Program.
  • Maintain a quality practice at Hospital site to serve as a role model for residents and students.
  • Performs patient care and all documentation associated with patient care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and in a way that meets appropriate accrediting standards for ambulatory care.
  • Serves as a preceptor on assigned day or days to work with the residents and medical students, seeing patients, hearing case presentations, and documenting appropriately in the charts their involvement.
  • Supervises and participates when appropriate in all procedures done by the residents and medical students.
  • May be required to serve as a back-up preceptor when others are on vacation, sick, or on leave.
  • Full participation in the group call schedule for the faculty practices.
  • Full participation in the group call schedule supervising resident inpatient and outpatient cases, including rounds, and prenatal and postpartum care.
  • Comply with all payer guidelines as it relates to patient documentation/patient contact, i.e., Medicare, Medicaid,Managed Care, etc.
  • Shall adhere to AdventHealth’s corporate compliance guidelines with respect to the billing of professional medical services.
  • May be required to participate on the Evaluation Committee Meeting, Clinical Competency Committee Meeting, Program Evaluation Committee Meeting/Annual Program Evaluation and GME Meeting, and other committees/meetings as assigned.
  • May be required to serve as an academic advisor to assigned residents.
  • May be required to participate in resident team activities.
  • May be required to participate in resident and faculty recruiting.
  • Promotes the timely completion and confidential handing of medical records for the resident’s patients.
  • May be required to develop and present lectures/conferences.
  • May be required to participate in new resident orientation.
  • Required to attend all departmental and hospital mandatory educational in-services.
  • Required to follow all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and supports the program’s continuous quality improvement initiatives that improve the quality of care to patients and improves operational efficiencies.
  • Maintains and encourages a team approach when working with nurses, physicians, faculty, and other internal Hospital or Program staff as well as external hospital staff to provide quality care to our patients.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Prior resident faculty experience, preferred
  • Licensed Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO)

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • State of Illinois license to practice medicine
  • Eligible to participate as a provider in the Medicare & Medicaid program
  • Current certification in relevant specialty by ABMS or AOA
  • Active member in good standing of the AH Medical Staff credentialing
