GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics, in accordance with accepted protocols. Which includes but not limited to echocardiogram, transesophageal, stress echocardiogram, pediatric echocardiogram.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains supply inventory and restocks to maintain proper operating levels
• Sets up and adjusts imaging equipment, while manually maneuvering transducers to perform exams
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures
• Performs routine and complex studies, in addition to assisting with a variety of imaging procedures
• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations
• Collects and maintains patient treatment records and data
• Conducts pre-treatment and post-treatment patient evaluations to ensure adequate preparation
• May be required to maintain quality insurance for ICAEL
• Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other departmental regions
• Ability to explain procedures to patients in a clear and concise manner
• Up-to-date knowledge to appropriately interpret image data and consequently determine which images to save and which to discard
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• One year of technical experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Diagnostic Sonographer Credentialing accepted from:

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), and
• Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and

• Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS)

OR

Echocardiography – Adult

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)

OR

Echocardiography-Fetal

• Fetal Echocardiography (FE)

OR

Echocardiography – Pediatric

• Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS) or
• Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)

OR

Vascular Ultrasound

• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or
• Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
