The role you’ll contribute:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the supervision of a Supervisor or Manager, this role is responsible for processing insurance and reimbursement collection efforts in a timely manner by assigned payer of responsibility and performs at a senior level. Reviews assigned electronic claims and submission reports to applicable payers under a specific payer group(s) by high dollar, account age, or any combination thereof to produce the best outcomes. Timely resolves and/or resubmits rejected or denied claims appropriately as necessary or described by Supervisor or Manager. Processes daily, weekly, monthly assigned tasks for assigned special payer assignments, payer aging reports, unbilled or miscellaneous (error) claims which eliminates any barriers for timely reimbursement. Able to maintain a high productivity standard along with additional duties not limited to the following: invoices review and assistance, letters to payers or patients, late charge or error logs, reports and aging. Performs inbound and outgoing calls to patients and/or insurance payers to obtain necessary information for accurate billing and timely reimbursement. Reports any specific issues to Supervisor, Manager or Director to ensure there is proper awareness and a resolution plan to achieve expected outcomes are accomplished. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Adheres to Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies..

Responsible for assisting the supervisor for monitoring initials process of self-pay accounts during pre-registration, registration and at discharge for follow-up process of self-pay receivables which includes all active accounts whereby we have pending agency/vendor cases, charity eligible accounts and other financial arrangements to the point of disposition. Responsible for training new staff and continued education for tenured staff. Protects financial standing of Florida Hospital Tampa Bay Division by appropriately placing financial responsibilities and arranging payment of deposits due up-front at all times.

Prepares and processes files for patients who request assistance on their Hospital accounts to meet a variety of financial programs, as well as alternative methods of account satisfaction.

Assesses the work performance of assigned employees, along with being able to interact in a professional manner with patients in collection procedures, billing problems, and protecting the hospital’s financial standing. In coordination with the supervisor, provides accurate statistical records and reports to account for productivity standards.

Travels to multi-campuses as business needs present to ensure one standard flow within the Financial Counseling area. Performs a wide range of duties in support of total Department efficiency. Is aware of departmental changes, standards, and goals as disseminated in department meetings, demonstrated by successfully completing CBL assignment within designated timeframe and all other methods of communication.

Facilitates the smooth and efficient operation of the department by being available and prepared to work during scheduled working hours and attends meetings as requested by Management.

Ensures proper financial assessments have been completed, actively participates in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Ensures monthly audits are in place for quality assurance and meets with team members regularly to discuss outcomes.

Maintains an effective good rapport with Case Management and Rehab Administration for long length of stay patients. Ensures all SSA disabilities are screened, tracked and monitored by appropriate staff which leads to favorable outcomes. Is responsible for current knowledge on regulatory changes within SSA.

Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller authorization level receiving information on account.

Presents written and verbal directions to employees to ensure well-informed status of employees in performance of their job requirements as indicated. Performs in conjunction with the supervisor by assisting in monitoring employee performance and provide feedback at 90 days and annually while adhering to JCAHO evaluation timeliness goals under the guidance of the supervisor. Evaluates and disciplines employees according to guidelines established by Department Director and Human Resources Departments of Florida Hospital Tampa Bay Division under their guidance.

    Have strong organizational skills and a positive resourceful attitude toward achieving overall hospital goals.

    Experience in a Patient Financial Services Department for a period of at least one (1) year working with uninsured patient accounts and/or Customer Service experience.

    High School diploma or equivalent, typing skills equal to 27 words per minute, proficiency in the performance of basic math functions, capability of communicating professionally with an acceptable use of English and spelling.
