The role you’ll contribute:

As a converging point person for people, process, and technology, the Manager of Nursing Informatics has a leadership role in transforming clinical care, maximizing the benefits of information systems within AdventHealth while coordinating nursing informatics activities for assigned facilities. They will be an expert in computer science, information technology, clinical decision support, and nursing clinical workflow and processes; and act as a key contributor working in collaboration with professionals on enterprise-wide clinical informatics projects. Collaborates to enhance clinical systems in support of excellence in patient care, clinical transformation and establishment of best practices. Functions as the leader of a team of Informaticists relative to assigned region.

Passionate about informatics transformation in a changing environment. Negotiates resolution of conflicting requirements across the agencies and/or departments.

  • Manages the process related to effective department wide and end user communication. Promotes a positive attitude to change and effectively communicates “why” change is necessary. Acts as a focal point for communicating system related problems within the department and to operational customers and collaborates with other AIT teams to effectively communicate changes, fixes, and updates.
  • Identifies and coordinates the management of risk and quality assurance issues that arise, escalating unresolved problems to the appropriate decision-making bodies, as needed. Works closely with AIT and operational leadership to facilitate system issue resolution.
  • Manages delivery and Service Level Agreements by guiding incident resolution, problem management, and enhancement requests. Motivates team to deliver a consistently excellent service experience.
  • Particpates in hiring process. Prepares and presents employee growth discussions/evaluations per AdventHealth approved process in a timely manner. Responds to employee input.
  • Manages the informatics workload related to modifications/enhancements/upgrades/redesign of hospitals systems that underlie the tools and management of health care information.
  • Analyzes system design, develops system specifications, and participates in the building and testing of new systems and installation of new upgrades. Responsible for the planning, implementation, deployment, support, evaluation and maintenance of clinical information systems. Able to map clinical processes.
  • Provides direction and support as a member of the management team to maximize clinical systems’ value within the organization. Oversees and ensures completion of approved projects through internal and external resources on time and on budget. Coordinates process solutions with AIT application teams, Clinical Informatics Advocates, operational facility leadership, and executive team, representing the clinical perspective.
  • Enforces organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Develops, reviews, and revises hospital policies related to electronic documentation on an on-going basis.
  • Coordinates facility activities during scheduled system downtimes. Establishes and maintains local contact structure for unscheduled system downtimes.
  • Assists and supports the hospital Education Department by providing input in the planning of orientation and in-service programs of new processes related to computer systems and clinical documentation.
  • Participates in leadership committees relevant to role.
  • Identifies and engages subject matter experts across departments to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Facilitates ongoing development of local Service Line Expert team with EMR and knowledge transer with work partners CNO.
  • Clearly and effectively transmits technical and business concepts and ideas using oral and written modalities. Able to create strategic presentations.
  • Monitors and analyzes aggregated data to identify trends related to clinical processes and outcomes resulting from information technology tools. Identifies barriers and opportunities to improve measurement of and compliance with outcome metrics.
  • Creates an environment to promote teamwork and strengthen relationships.
  • Prepares, updates and tracks department schedules to ensure adequate staffing coverage and agile and responsive 24/7 year round support.
Qualifications


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing either upon hire/promotion or within 36 months of hire/promotion
  • Current valid license as a registered professional nurse in state of primary work locale or obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Current valid driver’s license in state of primary work locale (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Completion of one professional certification relevant to field (ex. ANCC Informatics, CAHIMS, CPHIMS) within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter
  • Completion of CLN102 certification within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter if applicable.
  • Minimum of five years nursing clinical background
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in clinical informatics, healthcare informatics, nursing informatics or equivalent role
  • Successful implementation experience of electronic health record project. Proficient in multi-tasking
  • Knowledge of clinical/technical workflow
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
