Job Overview Summary

The Payroll Director is responsible for leading all aspects of payroll globally at Advarra and providing leadership, oversight, and direction to the function.

They will help create and deploy effective and compliant policies and procedures for the department that align to the larger organizations’ priorities and comply with ever changing legislation at the local, state, and federal levels.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Payroll function and oversee payroll processing for all employees globally
  • Manage and mentor payroll team members providing guidance and support in their professional development
  • Ensure payroll team remains educated and updated on pay and tax compliance and processing
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations including tax laws, labor laws, wage regulations and best practices
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Proactively audit payroll data for inconsistencies and identify potential issues in advance
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely compliance and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in Finance, Human Resources, and IT as well as outside vendors
  • Provide guidance and input to leadership for future mergers and acquisitions and global expansion
  • Stay ahead of proposed changes to legislation at the local, state, federal, and global levels and strategize with leadership on how to respond and implement
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve processing and efficiencies and drive cost savings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Location

This role is open to candidates working remotely in the United States.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 12 years of experience in Payroll with demonstrated experience leading the function
  • Experience in growth-oriented organization with global footprint
  • Deep and broad knowledge of payroll best practices, regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • High level of discretion and integrity handling sensitive employee information
  • Payroll experience in countries we operate in such as India and Ireland a plus
  • Experience with UKG a plus
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities
  • Ability to adapt to changes in process and technology
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary workstation
  • Regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 10 Lbs.
  • Learn and comprehend basic instructions
  • Focus and attention to tasks and responsibilities
  • Verbal communication; listening and understanding, responding, and speaking

Pay Transparency Statement

The base salary range for this role is $125,400 - $213,300. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience and may vary from the amounts listed above.

This position may also be eligible for a variable bonus in addition to base salary as well as health coverage, paid holidays, and other benefits.
