Job Description:

Position Title: Security Specialist (Adjudication Support)

Reports To: Project Manager

Work Location: Chesapeake, VA

Clearance Type: Must have a current Secret clearance or favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation (equivalent or higher).

Advantage SCI, LLC has a great opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Security Specialist with PERSEC experience in the adjudication process. Duties include but not limited to:

  • Perform preliminary adjudicative reviews of National Security, Fitness, or Suitability cases to present for final adjudicative decision.
  • Work closely and communicate with other security branches and customers.
  • Review internal record checks determine if there are any open internal cases which may have a bearing on the employee's background investigation and include the information in the adjudicator's worksheet.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate results of investigations to recommend employment, suitability, fitness, credentialing, and/or security clearance eligibility to a government adjudicator.
  • Summarize investigative issues on the adjudicator worksheet, recommend approval /disapproval, and annotate pertinent suitability factors and security guidelines, as applicable.
  • Corroborate or mitigate serious derogatory information. Determine if additional inquiries are necessary to resolve discrepant, negative, or contradictory information.
  • Request additional inquiries in accordance with organization policies and procedures,
  • Analyze responses from subjects and make final recommendations based on suitability and security criteria.
  • Formulate recommended courses of action consistent with national security adjudicative guidelines or suitability/fitness factors.
  • Record all adjudicative activities within the organization’s system of record, ISMS (or designated system).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the adjudicative function.
  • Draft standard correspondence based on templates and standards.
  • Able to effectively use systems that include but are not limited to the DCSA NP2 Portal, e-QIP (or successor system), PIPS/CVS, CGBI, iSMS or successor system, and NBIS.
  • Update the case tracking system with the status of assigned cases.
  • Appropriate control of PII through handling, storing, and transmission of documents and data, including physical or digital media.
  • If required, may support the Adjudicative Training Lead in the instruction of suitability/fitness or national security determinations.
Experience and Skills:
  • Must have proven ability and experience to efficiently perform the duties listed above.
  • Must have a current Secret clearance or favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation (equivalent or higher).
  • Must have 3 years relevant experience performing National Security, Suitability/Fitness, and/or Credentialing adjudication experience.
  • Must have previous or current Adjudicator Professional Certification (APC)
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and multiple PERSEC used databases.
  • Previous PERSEC experience with USCG highly preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research skills, resolution skills, and data analysis skills

Working Conditions:

Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.

Able to walk stairs regularly and distances between facilities.

Able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
