Position Summary:The Chemical Process Operator is responsible for operating equipment and machinery to ensure safe, reliable, on-spec, and efficient operation of the chemical plant processes. The Operator monitors and controls parameters such as level, temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical concentrations to achieve the desired processing results at the Frankford, Philadelphia location. Summary of the Main Responsibilities:Adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety, quality and production goals are metPerform daily inspections for leaks, hazards, and abnormal conditions to reduce interruptionsOperate various process equipment, filters, reactors, and pumps in compliance with prescribed operating proceduresMonitor plant equipmentAdjust valves and controls as need to maintain desired operationProvide detailed verbal and written updates regarding operating activities and abnormalitiesAdvise Board Chief and supervision of deviations in operating conditionsTroubleshoot process issues and take corrective action to ensure a safe and sustainable operating areaStart up and shut down unit processesPrepare unit equipment for maintenance work (Shutdown, decontamination, LOTO, work permitting)Draw process samples for quality testingParticipate as member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including fire brigade and HazMat technician Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredPrevious experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant operations, or relevant educational background is required Additional Qualifications:Ability to work on a 12-hour rotating shift scheduleAbility to work in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)Ability to work in a team environmentAbility to perform the physical labor associated with the jobPossess a strong work ethic and initiative to learn new processesAbility to work at elevated heights – greater than 50 feetAbility to work in confined spacesDemonstrated ability to deliver a safe workspace based on following standard workDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action within an industrial settingAdvanced troubleshooting skillsThe ability to handle and work with highly hazardous chemical intermediates
