Position Summary:The Maintenance Front Line Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing the Frankford Plant’s maintenance workforce in the safe completion of maintenance activities in the Frankford Chemical Plant. The position directly reports to the Plant’s Maintenance Leader. Responsibilities: · Lead and direct the plant maintenance workforce in problem identification, problem solving, and implementing process improvement measures· Engage team leaders and employees to improve department/area processes and performance· Interview, select, and train team leaders and employees· Create a work environment conducive to employee morale and motivate team members to accomplish performance objectives· Manage employee performance including setting/adjusting pay rates, rewarding/recognizing, and disciplining· Provide daily communication with team leaders, other shifts, and peers regarding safety, quality, productivity, staffing, equipment, continuous improvement activities· Make decisions on issues related to productivity· Act as first point of contact for team leaders and employees in escalating process of problems/concerns and participate in the escalation process as appropriate· Communicate Advancing Together (operating system) principles to employees to improve their understanding and execution· Conduct employee performance appraisals, both formally and informally· Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work· Audit team leaders’ standardized work to ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures· Make departmental decisions around waiving or deviating established procedures, considering any and all safety, environmental, or operational protocols and requirements· Responsible for conducting training for and auditing of standardized work· Responsible for leading and executing the 5S activities to maintain the area to standard· Drive a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology· Accountable to identify opportunities for improvement and continually seek to eliminate waste· Evaluate, address, and support employee suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement· Practice rapid-problem solving processes to ensure corrective action at the appropriate level· Participate in site health, environmental, PSM and safety activities· Primary responsibility for area maintenance budgeting and expenditure forecasting· Facilitates positive change in the Maintenance organization by proactively driving department initiatives such as craftsman skills improvements, SAP enhancements, Planning and Scheduling improvement initiatives, Maintenance cost and plant downtime reduction projects, etc.· Reviews and accepts all capital project work and oversees any capital projects completed using existing maintenance staff· Establishes priorities, makes assignments, and provides necessary supervision to monitor job execution and insures compliance with established standards· Supervises the repair of critical equipment in the field and with outside vendors· Oversees and troubleshoots process equipment problems and supports reliability-based maintenance programs to minimize machine downtime· Conducts daily shift starters and facilitates the monthly Structured Safety Meeting· Assigns & supervises hourly mechanics & contractors to complete plant maintenance tasks/projects· Develops scope of work and job plans and parts kitting for all maintenance work notifications· Develops and distributes the weekly maintenance schedule· Facilitates the JSA process for all plant line breaking and high-risk maintenance tasks· Develops complete work packages for four production unit outages and facilitates outage meetings· Perform work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.) Basic Qualifications:· High School Diploma or GED· 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.· 3 years of supervisory experience Additional Qualifications: · Associates or Bachelors in a technical field preferred· Experience working in a 24/7 operation preferred· Knowledge of and experience working in chemical plant maintenance preferred· Experience leading a unionized environment preferred· Strong commitment to safety· Computer proficiency in SAP/RF, Kronos, and Microsoft Office· Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills· Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude· Demonstrated leadership skills· Demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goals· Demonstrated conflict resolution skills· Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a unionized environment· Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement change· Ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives· Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization· Ability to work in a team environment· Strong written and verbal communication skills
