Advanced Technology Research is Hiring a Materials Scientist Near Bethesda, MD

Salary Range: $83,000-$120,000 USD per year
Advanced Technology & Research Corporation (www.atrcorp.com) is seeking to fill the following full-time permanent position. Based in Maryland and incorporated in 1973, ATR is an equal-opportunity engineering company with a solid reputation in various engineering disciplines for the government and Fortune 500 commercial customers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a team member at our government client site involved in research and development of polymer products for Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, West Bethesda. Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Research and development of polymer products for naval use
  • Identify means of quantifying polymer aging effects
  • Study adhesive performance for developmental polymer formulation
  • Manage laboratory equipment and qualify new mixing equipment
  • Design and manufacture molds to produce prototype
  • Produce technical documents and reports
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Material Science
  • Experiences with polymer processing is a plus
  • 2 – 5 years of DoD laboratories or industrial experiences are desired
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge in polymer products and characteristics
  • Familiar with industrial safety requirements
  • Aptitude and desire for hands on work
  • Good leadership and organizational skill
  • Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus
