Advanced Management Strategies Group (AMSG) is seeking a Field Artillery Gunnery Instructor with U.S. Army Field Artillery/Marine Corps Artillery experience to provide resident training and instruction to students attending FABOLC. The candidate will conduct academic instruction, provide input for updates/training to the Program of Instruction (POI) and maintain and update lesson plans. Instruction includes classroom, hands-on, simulation/virtual field environment and exercises combat scenario-driven, and live fire in a realistic and safe environment.

Location: Fort Sill in Lawton, OK
Job Type: Contingent start date during June 2024 will be Full Time/Onsite
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Field Artillery experience and served in one of the following assignments within the U.S. Army or USMC: Battery/Battalion Fire Direction Officer/NCO (FDO/Fire Direction Chief) on the M777A1 or M119A2 weapons systems and upgraded versions
  • Proof of qualified experience can be included from any of the below forms or a combination of the following:
    • DD Form 214 reflecting an Honorable Discharge
    • Officer Record Brief (ORB) / Enlisted Record Brief (ERB)
    • Officer Evaluation Report (OER) / NCO Evaluation Report (NCOER)
    • Instructor Training Certificate (ABIC or CFD-IC or service equivalent)
    • Graduate of FA WOAC, FA Captains’ Career Course, or FA Advanced Leaders’ Course.
    • Master Resiliency Training (MRT) or capable of passing MRT.
  • Must have experience in using Blackboard and Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and other Microsoft Office products in order to instruct, update/revise POI, and provide evaluations.
Citizenship & Clearance Requirements: Applicants must be a US Citizen and possess a DoD Secret Clearance

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Certify on four (4) Academic modules consisting of thirty (30) blocks of instruction and two (2) test/exams and maintain certification and conduct updated certifications on a quarterly basis.
  • Follow the government provided Program of Instruction (POI) and teach to standard the contents of each POI. This includes ensuring class begins and ends on time IAW the government approved schedule. Ensure all required resources are on hand and in good working condition NLT 30 minutes prior to beginning of scheduled training.
  • Evaluate students on their assigned subject matter under classroom, simulated, and field conditions.
  • Maintain competence at the assigned position, which requires continual self-education on emerging technological advances in Field Artillery capabilities and updates to doctrine.
  • Analyze individual and class academic duty performance and provide recommendations for improvement to the department branch chief concerning course materials, methods of instruction, and performance evaluation when requested.
  • Design and develop objectives, test items, lesson material, lesson plans, and other training materials.
  • Ensure at the end of each module that all students complete a Course Evaluation Assessment (critique). Provide the critiques to the Instruction Branch Course Manager or his/her designated representative within 2 business days of the end of each class.
  • Evaluate students on their assigned subject matter under classroom and simulated conditions. The instructors must maintain competence as their assigned position, which requires continual self-education on emerging technological advances in Field Artillery capabilities and updates to doctrine. The instructors will coordinate with the Course Manager or his/her designated representative for review and approval of all training sessions.
  • Administer examinations, evaluate test results, correlate test results of the students’ ability, and provide recommendations of academic deficiency to the Course Manager.
  • Analyze individual and class academic duty performance and provide recommendations for improvement to the Course Manager concerning course materials, methods of instruction, and performance evaluation when requested.
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation, set-up, and tear-down of all necessary equipment and/or resources prior to and at the conclusion of daily operations including pre- and post-field training evolutions.
  • Responsible for assisting and preparing the development of Training schedules through TMSS (Training Management Scheduling System).
  • Responsible for maintaining Blackboard with updated POI and training shells for each student to use.

Additional certification requirements and responsibilities include:

For a previous instructor who has been certified in one or more of the requirements below, certification time may be shortened. Candidate instructors shall submit proof of completion of the below certification requirements. Requirements for certification are listed (in no sequential order) as follows:

  • Common Faculty Development-Instructors Course (CFD-IC)
    • 2 Weeks: CFD-IC or other service school equivalent approved by the Fort Sill DOTD. This requirement may be waived on an individual basis if the proposed instructor has attended CFD-IC or other Service school equivalent in the past 5 years and provides documentation to verify successful completion. In accordance with the FCOE directive, if the candidate has actively taught at a service school within the past 5 years, the Total Army Instructor Training Course (TAITC), Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) can be in lieu of CFD-IC. If the candidate has not actively taught at a service school within the past 5 years, that person shall be required to attend CFC-IC because of Army Learning Model 2015 (ALM 2015) curriculum that is now taught and implemented at the FCoE.   • Support Cadre Training Course (SCTC)
    • 2 Days: SCTC, if not previously certified. (Government Provided Information – No cost to candidate).
  • Ask, Care, Escort - Suicide Intervention Course (ACE-SI)
    • 1 Day One, ACE-SI course given by Brigade (BDE) Chaplain - (Government Provided Information – No cost to candidate)
  • Common Faculty Development-Developers Course (CFD-DC)
    • 2 Weeks: CFD-DC, if not previously certified. (Government Provided Information – No cost to candidate).
  • Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) – (Government Provided Information – No cost to candidate)
