Advanced Fire Protection Services is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Fort Walton Beach, FL

Payroll experience required.

This position will process payroll weekly, track benefits, calculate commissions, record financial transactions, including cash disbursements, and verify they are accurate. The position is responsible for helping complete required tax forms, bank statement reconciliation, and generating regular reports for upper management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform payroll functions timely and accurately
  • Prepare and process payroll commissions
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Post daily cash activity
  • Post ACH cash disbursements for payroll
  • Process weekly payroll submissions, 401k, garnishments, and payroll taxes
  • Reconcile and process benefit payments
  • Process workers compensation and file payroll tax returns
  • Back up other department functions
  • Assist the Controller with month-end closing
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for management
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Assist with audits
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years relevant experience processing payroll and general accounting
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Job Cost related payroll and experience with Paycor is preferred
  • Acceptable background check, credit check and drug screening

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven work experience in accounting or a related field
  • Knowledge and understanding of economic principles, and banking
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and inventory functions
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel
  • Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
