This Self-Pay Representative is responsible for managing incoming phone calls and voicemails from patient’s needing to make payments or ask questions about their account. As appropriate, the representative will be required to fulfil patients’ requests, or route calls to other staff to assist as necessary. This must be performed in a friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional manner.
Job Duties:
Responds to incoming phone calls, mail, and email inquiries from patients in a prompt and timely manner
Process patient payments provided over the phone.
Take insurance information from patients and rebill accounts as necessary.
Identify appropriate department to assist with additional requests, and route calls accordingly when necessary.
Follow collection protocols/guidelines, and document accurate activity taken on the accounts
Provide additional assistance to team members on special projects as necessary
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills - comfortable interacting with patient’s and other employees.
Excellent phone and computer skills
Ability to work independently without close supervision
Ability to exercise judgement and make decisions
Ability to perform in a high productivity, fast-paced environment
Interpersonal skills and conflict resolution
Attention to detail
Ability to maintain sensitive information in confidence
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize responsibilities

Strong HIPAA and OSHA knowledge
Position Requirements:
High School or Equivalent
Some experience working with phones and working in a customer/patient focused environment preferred.
