The Coding Team Lead monitors and assist teammates with coding questions, selection of the appropriate code(s), and general workflow processes. Ensure staff meet goals and work effectively and provide coaching when necessary. This is an on site position in Goodlettsville, TN.

Job Duties

  • Provides leadership and supervision to coding teammates
  • Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered
  • Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices
  • Work closely with physicians, office staff, and other integral parties to ensure accurate and timely charge capture using CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding classification systems
  • Manage and chart timely resolution of coding related denials and rejections
  • Assist coders with daily questions regarding company processes, coding guidelines, working of denials, and specific chart and/or coding questions
  • Identify documentation gaps, trends, and opportunities to provide feedback
  • Assist in meetings with practices/providers and provide related feedback on current issues
  • Execute company policies and procedures that effect immediate operations and may also have organization-wide impact
  • Track daily/monthly numbers for charges, denials, and rejections for assigned coders and report any concerns to Director
  • Work practice(s) in absence of assigned coder or delegate task to another coder in your group
  • Keep pulse on teams workload and report any concerns to the Supervisor
  • Handle time off requests and timecard approvals and ensure teammates responsibilities are handled during absences
  • Handle call ins and documents PTO for sick time in Paycor if time is not made up
  • Report attendance issues or concerning trends to Supervisor
  • Send staff status updates to Supervisor and Director daily, at the start of the workday, with any call ins or changes in work schedule for that day
  • Reaches out to Director monthly for feedback on performance reviews. Schedules time with Supervisor to complete the supervisory portion of teammates performance reviews. Schedules time with the Supervisor and teammate to discuss review. Performance reviews are to be printed but not submitted until after the meeting with the teammate
  • Other duties may be assigned

Position Requirements:

  • High School or Equivalent
  • CPC, CCS-P or other related certifications or experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in medical coding
  • Leadership experience preferred
