SUMMARY

This Strategic Pricing Analyst position is responsible for partnering with the Merchant teams to develop and execute pricing strategies that drive incremental sales and profit for Advance Auto Parts. The Analyst will work as an expert and advocate for managing the category roles and pricing strategies within the price optimization system. The position is a hands-on, action-oriented role accountable to help build a world class pricing capability that drives future company performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Business Analytics: Analyze current and historical results of pricing activity to identify actionable opportunities, develop ideas, and make recommendations for optimal financial performance of merchant categories. Establish databases of pertinent information for use in preparing management reports and analyzing financial results, future plans, projections, and forecasts.
• Communication: Present recommendations and results across price zones for approval by product directors/merchandise managers/director or retail pricing. Provide the stores organization with price change information to enable execution.
• Relationships: Develop effective relationships with Merchant, Inventory, Visual, IT teams. Build trust at all levels by proactively providing credible and value-added support. Learn the important aspects of the supported business to become involved in key business decisions.

• Pricing Management: Input customer/category centric item strategies in the form of rules and constraints into the pricing optimization system. Initiate pricing programs at the category/sku level to meet objectives and growth intent.
• Process Improvement: Drive change in company best methods and be a resource for strategic pricing system/process enhancements.
• Reporting: Reports to Manager, Strategic Pricing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics from an accredited four-year college or university
• 1-4 years related business analytics experience
• Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions through analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of senior management, department heads, managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently with a high level of energy and initiative
• Assertive and flexible
• Advanced Excel skills and database skills required, as well as an ability to learn company systems and tools as needed. Familiarity with AS400, SQL and some basic programming a plus.

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Pricing, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, or Retail experience
• Exposure to data manipulation & visualization packages desired (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, Alteryx, etc.)
• Financial analysis and/or forecasting experience.
• Statistical and/or Econometric modeling experience is a plus, but not required.
• Advance Auto Parts systems aptitude and experience
