Job Description:
As an active team member of the Computational Biology (CompBio) research group at Boehringer Ingelheim, US research facility in Ridgefield, CT. The successful candidate will contribute to drug discovery efforts through analysis of multiple disease-relevant data sets, as well as development of core informatics pipelines and data organization.
Duties and responsibilities:
● Strong scientific understanding and experience in bioinformatics analysis of and their implications in disease biology.
● Apply and develop innovative analysis approaches when standard methods are not adequate.
● Interpret and present analysis results to coworkers and collaborators.
● Technical knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) design and data analysis pipelines including CRISPR (preferable) and omics analysis.
● Follow relevant scientific literature to ensure use of optimal methods and understand emerging practices across the field.
● Communicates own work effectively orally and in writing; contributes to writing protocols, procedures, and technical reports.
● Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
● Complies with applicable regulations; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Skills:
● Programming experience with two or more programming languages including: Python, R for bioinformatics data analysis.
● Proficiency in working with bulk and single cells NGS data, bioinformatics databases including PPI, CRISPR, Proteomics, or Metabolome.
● Experience in biological pathways analysis, systems network biology a plus
● Experience in machine learning, especially deep learning a plus
● Two years hand on experience of bioinformatics data analysis.
● Good understand of Cancer Biology, Metabolisms, and Immunology.
● Ability to develop and benchmark machine learning ml algorithms.
● Experience in software and/or pipeline development a plus.
Education:
PhD/master's degree from an accredited institution with experience in a related scientific discipline (Genomics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biological Science preferred)
