POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Area Operations Manager is responsible for providing operational leadership of the dental department, assuring operational, clinical, and service quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, budget achievement and growth. This individual works in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Operations Officer to implement and oversee initiatives and strategies of the company.

Qualifications


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Services Administration, or related field; and/or a combination of five (5) to seven (7) years management experience in dental health care leadership; Primary care or multi-unit management experience preferred
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (CPR) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association and Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations)
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL:

  • Responsible for direct supervision of Dental Operations leadership and support staff and the health centers
  • Establishes goals and action plans to achieve site volume growth, budgeted profit and revenue targets, dental quality initiatives and service expectations in conjunction with the respective dental practice leadership, support team, and the site’s Dentists, Hygienists, and Dental Assistant Staff
  • Create, build and manage effective relationships with Area Operations Managers, Clinical leadership, Dental Director, Regional Medical Directors, Center Support Office (CSO) leadership to proactively addresses clinical or compliance issues
  • Ensure the patient experience meets all AHC and Language of Caring (LOC) standards through collaboration with health center staff and providers.
  • Enhance the AHC culture by supporting and modeling the LOC principles, developing, and implementing programs to address annual employee survey recommendations
  • Communicate in an effective, professional manner with all AHC associates and CSO staff to identify and break down barriers to success
  • Consult and collaborate with assigned dental practice leaders to manage day-to-day operational issues, ensure the attraction and retention of competent personnel at the health centers
  • Support the development and effective management of Operational site volume projections and associated budgets in collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer, Dental Director, dental practice leadership, and Executive Leadership
  • Assure compliance with Joint Commission/Quality guidelines, National, State, laboratory regulations, HIPAA, OSHA and other regulatory bodies in designated clinics. Leads and coordinates the collection of data for timely UDS reporting
  • Collaborate with People Services and dental practice leadership in the attraction and retention of talent.
  • Assist in increasing the knowledge base and expertise level of staff, by working with Training Department, People Services and/or outside entities, to implement meaningful initiatives and programs of health care learning
  • Welcoming Students and Externs into our teaching programs
  • Effectively addresses escalated Dental Patient concerns, attempt to resolve issues or questions efficiently to maintain a positive patient experience
  • Work collaboratively across departments to ensure successful integration of dental services into patient care.
  • Perform other related duties or manages projects as assigned

Budget/Financial Accountability:

  • Accountable for developing, monitoring, reporting and achieving individual site volume/budget projections and quality targets in association with the Practice Administrators
  • Review monthly financial performance of health centers to identify areas for improvement and quickly implement solutions
  • Proactively plan for capital equipment acquisition needs and recommend budgets accordingly
  • Participate and contributes to developing Operational strategic initiatives, support development and manage project plans and associated tasks with assigned project personnel
  • Reviews/recommend, communication and oversee or authorizes any budget changes, equipment or staff additions

Dental Practice Management:

  • In collaboration with Dental Director, dental practice leadership, People Services, Training, key participant in overseeing recruitment and on- boarding of clinical personnel, administrative and support staff
  • Hire/oversee and evaluate performance, counseling/corrective action (as necessary) of assigned dental practice leaders.
  • Approve continuing education and leadership development for all dental operational personnel
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are administered and followed; makes recommendations for improvements in process and policy based as necessary
  • Assure care delivery and administrative procedures are carried out in accordance with Quality, Executive Leadership and/or Board requirements
  • Monitor dental care and delivery to ensure a quality service is provided on a consistent basis. Ensure support equipment and/or labs, etc. are reviewed and approved by necessary committees or leadership
  • Monitor the patient experience and assures that care and service are being delivered consistent with the Company mission and goals
  • Support dental personnel in achievement of targets and professional growth
  • Establish relationship with Clinical Leadership team, dental providers and works collaboratively with CMO and COO to assure that care is being delivered in accordance with dental best practices and in compliance with the Company’s Quality goals
  • Assure that each dental site achieves licensure or accreditation with the appropriate entities where applicable. Ensure that Operational staff completes necessary certification/accreditation on an annual basis and within time frames
  • Manage Dental Operations internal incident in our Incident Management System.
  • Work with site staff to ensure each site meets the guidelines for safety, care organization, cleanliness, and high standards we want to portray. Jointly, with dental practice leadership, take action, as necessary, to resolve issues as quickly as possible
  • Address patient and staff safety concerns promptly
  • Collaborate with Training Department/People Services to coordinate career training and education of dental practice leaders, Supervisory and/or Coordinator staff as applicable
  • Treat patients and co-workers consistent with the Language of Caring Culture and meet the Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Performance Standards of Adelante Healthcare

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience as an Advocate for Health Care or Human Rights
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English (Spanish preferred)
