• Candidates must be human service professionals with at least a bachelor's degree in the human services field.
• Candidates must obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional credential within 120 days of hire.
• Must have one year of experience (may include time spent in fieldwork or internship), treating or working with people who have been diagnosed with mental illness.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Must obtain a Michigan Chauffeur License within 30 days of employment.
• Also must either: (1) possess a CADC/CAADC credential, (2) have proof of application and payment submitted to the MCBAP for CADC/CAADC, or (3) submit the MCBAP Professional Development Plan within 30 days of hire. Approvals of plans or credentialing must be completed within 90 days of hire for continued employment.
• Must have the ability to engage adults with mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders, their guardians, families, and supports.
• Candidate must be an expert in helping clients identify their service needs and preferences, and helping them build on their individual strengths, resources, and supports to navigate the network of services available at the agency and in the community.
• Must have an orientation toward providing community outreach services. Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness, their families, and providers.
• Candidates must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Cannot accept candidates who are on student/work visas, and/or require sponsorship to work in the U.S. at this time. Individual programs may have additional requirements.
• Cultural competency, the ability to work effectively with a diverse population, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with individuals and families in a variety of modes of treatment, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other unit staff and providers, and a willingness to be flexible.
