1. Fire hydrant flow testing – developing maps, creating work orders, reviewing tests, creating flow up system investigation workorders and approving the final fire flow report document. These tests will be for both Developer and Internal testing programs. A strong understanding of water distribution system hydraulics is critical and a required skill.
2. Develop Safe Clearance documents as well as Valve Plans for Valve Operations staff to use.
3. Other tasks that support the Valve and Investigation Foremen allowing them to focus on their core duties.
These tasks include:
A). Assisting staff with technical training (Examples: using Maximo to close out work orders, using the Valve Position Tracking application, using their iPhones for Investigative SOPs).
B). Analyzing system data for potential operational issues.
C). Helping to maintain system pressure sensors.
D). Assist staff with FIDO leak detection equipment.
4. Creation of GIS Maps as needed.
5. Other work as assigned that supports the Distribution Control Branch.
6. Some field work may be required.
7. After receiving training, teleworking may be permitted pending work assignments. For example, fire flow test reviews may be completed remotely. Collaborating with staff to discuss system investigations may require the engineer to come into the office.

Qualifications:
P.E (Professional Engineering license) required in the District of Columbia*
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related Engineering degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of progressive experience in civil design or construction. The experience should include project management experience involving large or sizable projects. Supervisory experience is desirable.
