Adams State University is Hiring a Residence Hall Director Near Alamosa, CO

Position Summary: This Residence Director is a full-time, live-in, twelve-month administrative appointment that is responsible for the overall administration of a residence hall or area with approximately 250 to 350 residents and 7-10 paraprofessional staff members. The Residence Director must be committed to student development, especially as part of a Hispanic Serving Institution that is devoted to providing opportunity and access for all students, including a significant population from rural, first-generation, and low-income backgrounds. Individuals who have been successful in this role have actively sought to engage the community beyond campus, and typically have an affinity for outdoor pursuits and enjoy a rural, remote lifestyle. Salary: The salary range is $36,000-$40,459 per year depending on hall placement and/or experience, an unfurnished apartment, a meal plan when the cafeteria is open, and a comprehensive benefits package. Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities): Duties include community development, supervising paraprofessional staff, and working closely with faculty, staff, and other offices on campus as well as with off-campus organizations. The Residence Director will meet with residents concerning their college experience, academic plans, strategies for success, and adjudication of student conduct issues. Additional responsibilities include serving on campus committees as needed and be actively involved in the success and retention of residents in the area of responsibility and the campus community. Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. *Interest in restorative justice practices * Two years experience in residence life or student affairs * Knowledge of student conduct practices * Knowledge of community development principles * Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies * Commitment to individuals from diverse backgrounds * Knowledge of staff development and supervision *Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegially with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
