We are looking to hire an Accounting Clerk . The position is at our MTA Corporate location in Memphis, TN. This role will handle accounting functions of our 6 satellite branches in Alabama, Georgia and Ohio. We are looking for someone who is detailed oriented, dependable, and teachable, with ample computer experience and technological know-how, and effective communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting Tasks

• Prepare general ledger and financial reports, such as P&L statements
• Interact with other departments regarding invoicing and other accounting functions
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting including, but not limited to, monthly, quarterly, and year end close outs.
• Maintain current filing system to ensure records are kept in organized, systematic manner
• Compile data for monthly sales tax reporting based on sales in each state
• Any other job related duties assigned by management

Account Payables

• Pay all vendor invoices, applying discounts when applicable, and all monthly expenses through weekly checks runs
• Maintain all vendor files, update addresses, phone number, etc.
• Validate vendor invoices against purchase orders
• Post payments

Account Receivables

• Daily check deposits through online system
• Handle payments and post to customer accounts
• Mark aged accounts

Invoicing

• 150-200 invoices generated per week based on 4000-5000 customer database
• Knowledge of sales tax for various states, cities, and counties
• Verify sale orders batched from sales and service departments
• Convert order information into an invoice and post
• Manage various third party electronic invoice submissions (ie- Taulia, Ariba, Coupa, etc)

Required Skills/Abilities
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Two or more years of experience in an accounting role
•Working knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics accounting software or similar
•Working knowledge of Windows software
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time office position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Salary Description

$18/hr to $20/hr
