Job Title: Ortho/Trauma Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

General Description: Under the guidance of supervision, the Ortho/Trauma LVN/LPN provides essential healthcare services to a designated group of patients or clients within the OU Health facility. This role involves delivering preventive care, assisting in nursing assessments, and implementing established nursing plans to ensure the well-being of patients under their care.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct nursing assessments by gathering data, observing patient conditions, and recording vital signs for assigned patients or clients.
• Deliver care in accordance with established nursing plans and protocols.
• Monitor patients closely for any significant changes in condition and promptly communicate observations to supervisory personnel.
• Perform routine procedures such as ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding, as well as initiation and monitoring of oxygen therapy as per physician orders.
• Administer a variety of medications through oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, topical, and other routes as required.
• Prepare patients for routine physical examinations and assist physicians during these procedures.
• In case of surgical positions, the LPN may function as a Surgical Tech within the operating room setting.

General Responsibilities:

• Fulfill any other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to effectively organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs for assigned patients.
• Knowledgeable about operating room techniques, if applying for a surgical position.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Two or more years of relevant experience.
• Registration with relevant professional bodies.
• Proficiency in presentation skills.
• Experience in therapy services.
• Aptitude in data collection techniques.

Required Education:

• Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse program.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact LPN License (eNLC).
• Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week.
