General Description: Under the general supervision provided, the Direct Acute Care LVN/LPN delivers preventive and healthcare services to a designated group of patients or clients within the OU Health facility. This role involves assisting in nursing assessments, implementing established nursing plans, and observing and reporting changes in patient conditions.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist in nursing assessments by collecting data, observing patient conditions, and recording vital signs for assigned patients or clients.
• Deliver care according to established nursing plans and protocols.
• Monitor patients closely for any significant changes in condition and promptly communicate observations to supervisory personnel.
• Provide routine procedures such as ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding, and initiation and monitoring of oxygen therapy as per physician orders or unit protocol.
• Perform tracheotomy site suctioning and cleaning.
• Administer various medications through oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, topical, and other routes as required.
• Prepare patients for routine physical examinations and assist physicians during these procedures.
• LPNs may function as Surgical Techs in the operating room if applicable.

General Responsibilities:

• Fulfill any other duties as assigned.

Experience: One or more years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs for assigned patients.
• Knowledgeable about operating room techniques, if applying for a surgical position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with chemotherapy, outpatient care, office skills, oncology, therapy, and registration processes.

Education: Associate degree in nursing.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:

• Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact LPN License.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Certifications & Licenses:

• BLS
• LPN License

Shift Details:

• 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts, 3 days a week).
• Full-time day shift from 0645 to 1915.
• Holidays required depending on the length of the assignment.
• Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) required.

Pay: $29.00 per hour
