ACUTE RESCUE AND TRANSPORT INC is Hiring a BILLING SPECIALIST FT Near Boise, ID

Starting Wage: $20/hour DOE

GENERAL SUMMARY (THE VALUE YOU WILL ADD TO OUR TEAM):

Acute Rescue hires billing specialists with a head for figures and a heart for helping others. Everyone on our administrative team has a role to play in providing great customer service for a broad cross-section of clients, so you will get to use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as accuracy in this demanding role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Processes medical billings, including private payment, private insurance, liability insurance, Workers' Compensation, Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Administration, contracted services with hospitals, correctional facilities, and other medical facilities under the supervision of the Billing Manager.
  • Maintains medical and billing records;
  • Maintains information relating to special contract billing accounts;
  • Ensures that all billing sheets and flow sheets from field personnel are received;
  • Assures charges are correct for services delivered;
  • Prepares, reviews, and sends statements and insurance billings;
  • Work with collection agency for use in recovering delinquent accounts
  • Answers questions from patients, patient representatives, attorneys, and insurance companies;
  • Review patient records on a daily basis for accuracy, supply any missing information and ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Researches issues and billing complaints to bring resolution;
  • Enters account activity and payment schedules into database;
  • Posts and processes insurance denials;
  • Prepares and submits appeals for denied claims;
  • Prepares and mails statements and reports;
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient healthcare information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);
  • Access patient records as needed for review by physicians, technicians and other medical staff members
  • Follow professional standards and meet requirements of local, state and federal regulations

JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of basic medical terminology
  • A minimum of two years of relevant clerical or medical experience;
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation;
  • Knowledge of office terminology, procedures, routine and equipment;
  • Knowledge of business math;
  • Skill in organizing records;
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written directions;
  • Ability to perform work and deal with the general public, some of whom may be frustrated or under stress, in a tactful and courteous manner;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred:

  • EMS knowledge or experience
  • Ambulance Billing experience
  • Experience with previous electronic medical billing software
  • Medical billing and coding experience
