Description:
The Design Assurance Engineer inspects, audits, and/or reviews data and documentation coming from Engineering to ensure proper processes have been followed.
The Design Assurance Engineer supports software and complex electronic hardware development projects, as well as design changes required by production and field support.
This involves auditing the processes that the groups are following and making sure plans and standards, requirements and artifacts, of various programs are being followed
This role involves standing up to other teams and communicating why a design isn't ready and helping articulate how the requirements and artifact document are not acceptable yet.
There are 4 audits that occur during the lifecycle of a program to make sure product being delivered and certification artifacts are up to FAA industry standards.
The individual is responsible for ensuring whatever certifying authority the product is going to will have their expectations met.
Qualifications:
Someone who has been in a role where they reported to a regulatory authority and communicated what work had been done to meet requirements
Someone passionate about digging in and getting to the bottom of things; this can't be a superficial approval but someone who can dig in and "pull the thread" to go deeper on what the product design team has done compared to the requirements, and what work still needs to be done before handing it over to certifying authority
Need some knowledge and exposure to software development environment as the products, requirements and artifacts deal with C/C programming, VHDL programming and Linux.
