Description:
Researches, plans, analyzes, designs, and develops mechanical products such as ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other devices. Performs technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs. Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements. Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. May deliver technical presentations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Applies advanced knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in area of specialized expertise to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.Provides technical leadership, consultation, or guidance to specialized engineering groups and other technical personnel.Conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes designs to ensure engineering projects meet technical, cost, quality, and performance requirements. Researches, writes, and presents technical presentations to enhance the company's reputation with customers and in the technical community.Initiates and maintains external contacts with key experts and officials of other companies, national labs, academic institutions, and government agencies.Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve complex engineering problems, using specialized equipment, or by creating computer programs, models, or simulations.Prepares, presents, and defends project technical results and recommendations to customers. Participates in formal technical reviews.Prepares technical and cost portions of proposals related to area of expertise.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. Advises senior management on new developments and programs.May direct the work of less senior technical personnel.Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
