Job Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs
• Use engineering tools and demonstrate CAE groups including Safety Performance to optimally develop the best system solution
• Assessment of design to manufacturing processes (e.g. injection molding, vibration welding, vacuum forming, foam-in-place, wrapping) for instrument panels and consoles
• Assessment of design to manufacturing processes used for IP Structures. Processes include steel & aluminum stamping and extrusion as well as robotic welding, magnesium die casting, and hybrid concepts.
• Package components and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle (Thermal, Electrical, Body, Chassis, Restraints, etc.)
• Work multi-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration work, realize cost optimization, deliver customer focused requirements, and implement product and process improvements
• Balance business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
• Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations (e.g. Creative Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers) and lead the product development team (PDT)
• Stays abreast of new technology

Required Skills/Experience:

• Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool
• Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
• Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
• Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
• Partners with management to analyze and solve issues
• Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
• Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations
• Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory and principles of design
• Regular contract with others outside the work group
• Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools

Required Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering
