Job Description:
The Hardware Test Engineer role develops and executes test systems for components, subsystems, and unit testing of electrical systems. This includes hardware and software development and integration, design of PCBs, fabrication and assembly management with vendors and contract manufacturers, and inventory management. The role also is deeply embedded in the design control process, including requirements generation, verification, and validation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Required skills/qualities/experiences:
• BS in Electrical Engineering
• 5 years of industry experience
• CAD design and layout, preferably using spice simulator and Altium
• Hands-on experience of testing microelectronic components and systems
• Lab experience with instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition boards, etc.) and circuit debugging experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical analyses
• Able to program in Python
• Industry experience creating detailed test documentation (plans, protocols, reports)
Preferred skills/qualifications
• MS in Electrical Engineering or 7 years of experience in industry
• Previous ownership of requirements generation
• Hands-on experience with systems using FPGAs or microcontrollers
• Product verification efforts for medical device products, including building and maintaining test/calibration systems
• Able to program proficiently in Python or C/C
• Experience collaborating with or managing outside vendors to specify, develop, and qualify test solutions
