HIRING A DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION TO OVERSEE PROJECT MANAGEMENT, FIELD OPERATIONS AND SAFETY!

PAY $170,000-$200,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Description: Our client has an immediate need to hire a Director of Construction to support their Phoenix operation and west coast operations at large. This position is open due to a backfill.

Job Description:

  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable project managers and the field operations leaders.
  • Track equipment acquisitions and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure projects come in within budget.
  • Ensure the achievement of gross margin goals and identify cost-saving opportunities in project execution.
  • Guarantee timely project completion and identify opportunities to streamline operational processes.
  • Maintain a focus on delivering high-quality work safely and consistently providing excellent customer experiences.
  • Participate in establishing company-level strategic plans as a key member of the Leadership Team.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide project managers, the field leaders and the safety team.
  • Establish and track key metrics to proactively guide decisions including priority setting and resource management.
  • Collaborate with the controller to oversee the financial performance of all construction projects.
  • Hold project managers accountable for results, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Support the field leaders with finding opportunities to enhance production and meet manpower needs.
  • Will be directly involved in interviews and hiring decisions. Will be making hiring forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to instill a safety-first mindset company-wide.
  • Work with sales and preconstruction leaders to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Collaborate with the HR leader to maintain top-notch onboarding and training programs for continual learning and development.
  • Continuously refine operational processes and implement systems to ensure consistent adherence by team members.
  • Lead and maintain contract review and compliance protocols, ensuring teams are aware of relevant contract provisions.
  • Make sound decisions, balancing customer experience with protecting the company against unnecessary risk and loss.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the company's success.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST HAVE:

  • At least 10 years of experience in construction operations and management
  • Has managed and supervised a team for at least five years
  • Established leadership experience - will be building out a team
  • Experience in commercial construction projects involving known entities - example of chain stores such as Wal-Marts, fast food, restaurants, etc.
  • Exposure to greenfield or brownfield projects
  • Experience in preparing and operating a given budget
  • Strong written communication - professional writing in emails, reports, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office and some construction software such as Bluebeam, Primavera, etc.
  • Comfortable making decisions based on financial statements
  • Valid passport

Bilingual in English and Spanish
