Accounting Manager
Location: Candidate must be located in North Carolina and willing to travel to Chapel Hill periodically. Local candidates may be given the option transition into a hybrid role at a future date. Occasional travel to out of state clinical trial sites may be required. 
Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Manager, based in North Carolina, to support a growing accounting and financial reporting function. Working under the guidance of the Controller and Assistant Controller, you will play a key role in all day-to-day financial reporting and accounting activities for the organization.
Responsibilities

• Prepare workpapers, journal entries, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts for the monthly and annual financial close in accordance with GAAP of our site management organization.
• Assist in the production of monthly and annual financial statements for multiple entities and business units; Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and established policies and procedures.
• Work closely with the billing team, actively reviewing monthly billings and monitor collections on outstanding accounts receivable. Assess collectability and review proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
• Review existing systems and processes to assist in the identification of improvement opportunities with a focus on standardization and optimization, especially the reduction of manual, Excel-based activities.
• Oversee integration activities on future M&A opportunities.
• Take ownership of the internal controls for your respective areas by continually reassessing and updating process flowcharts and control activities as needed.
• Oversee the accounts payable processes across multiple locations.
• Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting supporting management decision-making as required.
• Coordinate with external auditors over respective areas as needed.

Requirements 

• ​​​Integration experience preferred (as it relates to M&A).
• Experience in a Site Management Organization or Clinical Research Organizations is preferred. 
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting research
• Clear grasp of accounting and financial processes (financial statement close process, analytical review, annual reporting, etc.)
• Familiar with Oracle NetSuite or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software preferred.
• Well organized, proactive, able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously; ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Ability to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner with employees, clients, vendors, and business contacts.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Must be a team player who will work well in a small company environment.

• 7 years of relevant accounting experience required, with a mix of private and public accounting experience preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant license or international equivalent preferred
• Proven leader with the ability to effectively manage a team with 3 years experience overseeing direct reports.
• Education and/or comparable professional experience in Accounting or related field.
