SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Overview

This position is an exempt, full-time salary position reporting directly to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

Listed responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintains, contributes and facilitates the month end close process
• Supervise the accounting department, including planning, assigning and reviewing work 
• Prepares and reviews journal entries: reversing, recurring and standard
• Maintain company accounting procedures and processes
• Conducts monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Resolves accounting discrepancies associated with account balances and reconciliations
• Analyzes financial statements for discrepancies; and prepares entries for appropriate corrections or accruals
• Prepares monthly and quarterly reports as assigned
• Assists in implementing appropriate accounting policies and procedures and internal controls
• Understands financial policies and standard operating procedure and continues to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Assists with financial audits and taxes, including preparing schedules and documents as assigned
• Performs general clerical duties as necessary

• Demonstrates a high level of quality work, attendance and appearance
• Adheres to all Company Policies & Procedures and Safety Regulations
• Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting preferred)
• 4 years of accounting and supervisory experience
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Strong analytical and accounting skills
• Experience with computerized ledger systems, Intacct preferred
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
