About Midwest General Insurance :

Our office located in Middleton, WI is seeking an intern for our Claims Department. This is a paid internship, working 40 hours per week during the summer months.

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Claims Department with a variety of job duties and departmental initiatives.

Job Summary :

The Customer Care Specialist independently processes multi-state workers’ compensation claims telephonically, via the web, email and regular mail while providing a variety of administrative support to the Claims Department.

Responsibilities :

Answer incoming calls and document claim file activities for multi-state workers’ compensation claims.

Set up new losses and document claims file activities upon loss intake.

Support team by answering telephones, completing telephone surveys, updating the call log, producing claim kits, and facilitating special handling requests.

Assist clients with MPN / HCN / MCO network provider lookups.

Update the customer notes for accounts with special handling.

Handle unidentified mail.

Review and sort outgoing indemnity and medical checks.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications :

Professional telephone demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, good listening skills, along with strong organizational skills.

Thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation claims procedures and policies.

Possess a strong understanding of human nature and motivation principles.

Readily control / handle problem issues in times of stress and in a climate of conflict and / or adversity. Computer literacy including strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to type 45 WPM.

Responsiveness to changing business needs.

Ability to work with limited supervision.

Ability to multi-task while also maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to adhere to the code of ethical conduct

Minimum Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education : College degree preferred.

1-2 years of customer service experience preferably over the phone.

Desire for career development within the insurance industry.

Bilingual English & Spanish preferred
