MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school graduate or equivalent. Experience with electronic medical records preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. Must be able to communicate in a professional manner.
Required Length and Type of Experience
One year of coding experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
Registered health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.), Accredited Health Information Technician (R.H.I.T.), Certified Coding Specialist (C.C.S.), Certified Procedural Coder (C.P.C.), Certified Coding Associate (C.C.A.) or coding certificate from a college program required.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Walking, bending, lifting, spends considerable amount of time sitting at a computer terminal. Ability to read and comprehend medical records.
