Time Type: Full time Department: CC015070 Eye Clinic Summary: Eye Clinic - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (off Wednesdays) 8am-4:30pm - 32 hours/week Ophthalmic Technician provides assessment information to the physician who is treating the patient. The Ophthalmic Technician participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care to a select group of patients. Technicians are involved in basic and advanced ophthalmic procedures that aid the physician in the diagnosis of acute and chronic conditions of the eye. Additional Information: Required Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Recommended Education: Certificate from college program or technical school Required Work Experience: Related Field - No experience required Recommended Work Experience: Clinics - Related_1 year Pediatric experience Required Certifications: Recommended Certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) - International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) - International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) Description 1. Attains thorough and accurate patient and family history. 2. Performs physical eye exam, measure the eyes optical system, visual fields, basic ocular motility and other vision and diagnostic tests. 3. Takes ocular and systemic history. 4. Accurately records visual acuity. 5. Collects ophthalmic measurements and other diagnostic information. 6. Plans and organizes patient care tasks to ensure optimal time and resource utilization. 7. Assists physicians in performing ophthalmic procedures. 8. Prepares and administers eye medications. 9. Provides eye care and contact lens information to patient. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
