PositionOverview

CoreResponsibilities

StudentAchievement and Success:

  • Ensurehigh academic standards are set for and met by all students.
  • Developand execute a rigorous standards-based curriculum through collaboration withgeneral education teachers.
  • Differentiatecurriculum, instruction, and individualized education plans to meet individualstudent needs.
  • Usestudent performance data derived from teacher-created and standardizedassessments to drive instructional decision-making.
  • Designand implement high quality IEPs that effectively catalog student needs withclear objectives and outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Effectivelyuse various co-teaching models to deliver high quality instruction to studentswith disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

Commitmentto School and Classroom Culture:

  • Createa classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to thematurity and interest of the students.
  • Developpositive relationships with students.
  • Developclassroom rules for behavior that are consistent with the school wide rules andAcero Student Code of Conduct.
  • Developpositive relationships with parents for the purpose of creating a support forstudents and their education program; execute assigned home visits tofacilitate this process.
  • Assistin promoting the participation of students, parents, and other members of thestaff in Acero-initiated activities.
 Professionalism and Leadership:
  • Collaboratewith Assistant Principal to develop and execute Professional Growth Plan.
  • Engagein self-initiated focused, reflective work (action research, criticalcollaboration, case study, or learning log).
  • Clearlyand accurately communicate with administration, colleagues, students, parents,and larger academic communityto improve academic outcomes for allstudents.
  • Exhibitpersonal responsibility for daily work and attendance, personal appearance,student learning, and school success.
  • Demonstratecollegial behavior and make professional development contributions to theschool community.
  • Demonstrateknowledge of all Federal and State rules and regulations regarding SpecialEducation.
  • Serveas a resource for disability related issues for staff, parents, and students.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate the academic progress of students under his/her leadership and articulate the methods used to achieve those results

  • Strongtechnology skills and familiarity with electronic IEP systems
  • ValidIllinois Special Education License (LBS1 endorsement) (required)
  • Musthold permanent residency in the United States (required)
Physical Demands
The nature of the work requires an ability to operatestandard business office equipment, and the ability to communicate and exchangeinformation, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintainwork files. Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend, reach high andlow, stoop, and walk around the classroom 60% of the day. In addition,candidates must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs. for shortperiods of time, and walk up and down stairs several times a day.

WorkingConditions

Majorityof work is performed in a general office environment. Position requiresavailability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to performjob duties. Also requires participation and attendance atorganization sponsored events and meetings.
